生物医学工程大学教育的五十年
摘要
其重要的角色。早期的本科课程是在BME研究生课程开始之后不久发展起来的,BME部门的实际优势包括以学生的
兴趣与利益为前提,可自由掌控与利用学校资源与课程。与其他工程领域不同,BME最初并不依赖工业毕业生的市
场,尽管BME毕业生随后也不缺乏发展机会。BME本科课程在 2000年代因惠特克基金会的资助和其他机构(如国
家生物医学成像和生物工程研究所)的资源资助而爆炸式增长。项目的数量似乎达到了一个稳定水平,目前在美国
有 118个获得认可的项目。我们发现了一个不仅在生物学方面,而且在工程的广度方面都不同于其他工程师的知识
库,是大多数本科生都应该知道的核心材料。我们还回顾了重要组织和会议如何在BME发展中起到作用、以及一些
BME的教育特点、BME毕业生的首次安置,及未来需要解决的一些挑战。
