A Study on the Problems and Reform Strategies of English Linguistics Teaching in Colleges and Universities

The fundamental purpose of linguistics teaching for English majors in colleges and universities is to systematically teach the theoretical knowledge of English linguistics，mobilize the interest and enthusiasm of college students in English language learning，perceive the beauty of English language，and then improve their comprehensive ability of English learning. In order to enable college students to deeply understand and master English language knowledge and improve their cognitive ability，colleges and universities have added a lot of professional knowledge in English linguistics teaching，such as humanities，sociology and science and technology in English-speaking countries. However，at present，most colleges and universities still focus on explaining and analyzing basic theories of linguistics，resulting in a relatively narrow range of knowledge for students. It is difficult to fully connect basic theories of linguistics with real life，and they will be afraid of difficulties when facing some theoretical and academic linguistic knowledge，which will affect their learning enthusiasm. Therefore，college English linguistics teaching should face and solve these problems，innovate teaching methods，and improve the overall teaching quality of English linguistics.
